high ceilings and large wood-framed windows--lined with lofted banquettes--create an airier pub vibe than their cozy counterparts across the pond. an exhibition kitchen and central bar island add to the bustle, as do the friendly, hip servers gliding from table to table. the otherwise bare-brick walls feature shocking blown-up images snapped during 1993's london riot. it's nice to find a place that has good food, a fun crowd and is actually affordable--most entrees are in the teens. it is loud, so this might not be the best place for a cozy date, but it's great for groups
